I also use Workflowy because of its search mode:
the search result displays the rows matched, WITH their parent row, WITHOUT their brother row.
In case of big text, this kind of search result will be very clear for comparing the rows matched.
In Bike,
the search result displays the rows matched, WITH their parent row, also WITH their brother row.
Will you consider change or add search mode like Workflowy? Bike with this new feature will be really amazing for me!
By the way, will Bike consider to add “tag” function?
In the past I have build TaskPaper which has that same search behavior, filter our rows, show parents. What I don’t like about that behavior is you then have invisible rows to worry about while editing.
In Bike 2.0 preview I feel like scaling the rows is a better overall solution.
Another option in Bike 2.0 is results could be shown, tailored as you see fit, in an extension based view.
Anyway, I guess first let me know if you are talking about 2.0 preview display or not.
Yes, I expect it will be in a point release, after Bike 2.0 is finished.
I download and subscribe BIKE from Apple mac App Store, so I used V.1.21.
Just now I download BIKE 2.0 preview version, it shows a special resolusion. But I really like the mode you used in TaskPaper, which allows me to expand or collapse freely and so I could easily scan the context of the row matched.
Would you please consider the mode of filter in TaskPaper? really really like it!
I’m not sure if I’ll add this or not, I think I would like to try living with the current behavior for a while first. The TaskPaper approach has positives, but I ended up feeling like it was pretty confusing and could be improved.
I do expect to do some more work on Bike’s filtering search, not so much the outline view when filtering, but the modes of how search works. For example I think I want to change it so that when you search a new outline view is pushed over your main view. You can search/edit in this new pushed view, but then when you close it you’ll be back to your view (scroll position, expanded items, etc) before you started the search.
