Type, type, type

Yikes, it was brought to my attention that I haven’t posted here in over a year :/

What am I up to?

Hi, Bike is so cool!
Will version 2 have a tagging feature similar to TaskPaper?

Thanks!

I’m not sure about 2.0, but I expect yes in some 2.x point release. Bike 2 is adding the two essential pieces of infrastructure that make tags useful: stylesheets and filtering. I’m just not sure if I’ll have time to add the actual tag editing UI, but sometime in 2.x timeframe I do expect to add them.

I’ve had the same question for awhile. As someone who doesn’t own either Bike or TaskPaper (and missed the Black Friday sale by 7 days :sob: ), I’ve loved trying out TaskPaper and find it a good simple TODO list application. Just been wondering if Bike would get the same features (tagging, saved searches, archiving) that make TaskPaper what it is.

That’s definitely the plan, timing is hard to predict.

the thing that makes Taskpaper extra useful as a todo list is this template generator (https://matthewmcvickar.github.io/taskpaper-month-generator/?year=2026&month=2

I’ve been using it for years, and it would be great for the generator to be built into TP and Bike (eventually, of course)

i’ve occasionally considered using these full-featured note-taking apps like Notion or Obsidian, but they all have terrible outlining. Maybe one day they will see the light and license your UI/UX, and you can live off those fees.
