Timer / schedule

Will Bike get a timer / schedule feature like folding text I use that quite a bit still but am hoping to shift to Bike this year

I hope yes, but not in near term. Within a year, hard to say, but probably not within 6 months.

If I could upvote this request I would. It is quite a unique feature in any app, I truly miss it in Bike which I love and use everyday.

I’m afraid still a while on this feature, one day I think so, but I don’t see it being added soon. To many other more basic things to work on.

I made an account to request this same feature. I use Bike as my always on schedule of the day for elementary students and this would be really helpful.

Bike’s still not ready for this, and likely won’t be for a while. Still a ways to go on 2.0. Then need to work on iOS. Schedule is a long way out I’m afraid.

I wonder if this would be worthwhile as a separate app? I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about future collaboration/sync for when Bike has iOS version. Part of that has been to build little dummy apps to test collaboration and sync out. Maybe I could use the scheduler as a test case for that work.

It wouldn’t be as flexible as a Bike implementation, but maybe enough. I’m basically just thinking:

  1. Schedule has a flat list of items
  2. Schedule has a start time
  3. Each item has text and a duration
  4. Highlight “current” item based off start time and items durations

I’ve always thought FoldingText’s schedule implementation was pretty neat, but many of the times where I think it would be useful (for example sports practices!) aren’t really great environments for complexity of an outliner.

Can’t promise I’ll do any of this, but would it be useful?

Folding texts one was excellent
Sounds good
I dont mind another small focussed app on this for sure!
I will still keep paying for Bike

I totally understand.

That idea would be absolutely useful. I can’t think of anything else like that.
Folding text’s was really great, but that is the gist of what I am looking for.

I have used something similar when teaching during COVID and schedules were very hectic.

In a classroom what you are describing would be really appreciated. Often inside of a math or reading block there are multiple rotations happening with 15-20 minute tasks. Something like that dummy app would be briliant.

This is exactly my use case, for student presentations and workshops, and the biggest use for a timer academic conferences
