Thanks and, sharing code

Thanks @jessegrosjean for your continued updates with TaskPaper. As my small way of saying thanks, I am sharing my current day to day working less code.

As I have posted previously, I primarily use Taskpaper as a tool for writing. I have to sort through huge legal stacks of information, make arguments, flag other peoples arguments that I need to object to, etc. All this and I am not even a lawyer, just a vet fighting the VA for justice in his records and in his claims.

Obviously my code can be improved on. For example, I prefer to write color values one way:

color: mix(black, white, 70%);

And others will prefer to write color values another way;

color: rgb(92%,92%,92%);

The main idea of this is that I use TaskPaper less as a todo list, and more as a tool for looking through writing projects as I am developing them. To that end, I am using tags that simulate formatting. I understand that in a plain text environment like TaskPaper, formatting is not really going to be the point for many users.

For me, formatting helps ideas to stand out, especially when I am slogging through many pages of information and trying not to loose track of an idea I am gathering.

Of course putting tags with project specific references also makes pulling all the various reference points together by clicking on any one of them, a breeze. This is similar to what I would normally have to use a database for. I would have to set up query fields in a database. I love how easy it is to use TaskPapers tools for doing research. I know that was not what it was designed for but, I am a very happy customer just the same.

Added: The following example fo the code that I use daily in my Taskpaper work is what I am using now for my daily work with documents. It has a beige background and a relatively large (20 pt) type face is so it is easy on my eyes. I use a vertical monitor so that I can see more or less a full page of a document at the same time.

This less file is for display on a monitor only. It is not what I use if I print a page. Taskpaper defaults to a different less file for printing. Taskpaper does not use any pagination that I have seen (no page breaks) so I don’t normally print out of TaskPaper anyway. I would if I could but … I can’t so I don’t. I use Taskpaper for organizing large papers. It’s easy enough to copy/past and use Notes for walking around with the idea or use Nisus for my final drafts, printing, etc.

Enjoy:
