TaskPaper 3.9.3

Is anyone seeing problems with this release. It works well for me, and I don’t think I changed much… but I just got one report of:

My cursor is jumping all over the page, things are copied and pasted when I push the up/down arrow. The up/down arrow does not work as it should, jumps around. Unusable.

Anyone else seeing this?

Zero issues here.

The up/down arrow keys are working properly, as they always do.

Nothing at all. All working well here.

macOS 15.1, TaskPaper 3.9.3 Preview

I wonder if that report arises from keys being accidentally remapped by some utility like Karabiner, Keyboard Maestro, etc etc ?

Maybe, but the weird part is problem seems solved when they downgrade to previous version.

The one thing that I can’t test is they are using macOS 14.4 and I just upgraded. Anyone using 14.4 and still able to use latest TaskPaper?

I don’t imagine any of my recent code changes could have caused this problem, but I did switch from prev generation OS and Xcode versions, to the latest versions for this build. All seemed to build Ok, but maybe that’s a cause.

Long shot, but

(if they are using Keyboard Maestro),

it’s conceivable that a Keyboard Maestro folder, targeted at the earlier version of TaskPaper, doesn’t yet recognise the new version (target application needs to be re-selected), leaving the new TaskPaper build unshielded from the scope of some other re-mappings.

( not sure whether analogous application targeting issues can arise with other key-mapping utilities )

I seem to have this same issue. It looks like some sort of rendering glitch. When I type a task and then press the hotkey for a new note under it, the cursors jumps to the start of the next line as it should, but does not push the existing line down and instead hides it. Also, applying a different style sheet left parts of the background color unchanged.

For me, it’s not related to key mapping, but might be related to my custom stylesheets. Mine have a larger font size than the default style, and custom background and item colors. I gave up and downgraded to 3.9.2 before playing around with the default stylesheet very much, so unfortunately can’t provide more details. No issues with 3.9.2 and also I have to say I’m pretty impressed that this was literally the first time I have ever experienced any issues with TaskPaper whatsoever, over several years, so the track record is still solid!

Thanks for the report… can you let me know what version of macOS you are using?

Sure, I’m on 14.4

Do you mind sharing your stylesheet and if you get a chance taking a small movie that demonstrates it. I can’t yet reproduce the problem. I have tried on latest macOS and also on macOS 14.6.1.

Maybe also see if updating to 14.6.1 makes a difference. The other report that I got about this was also on 14.4
