Rows expand when re-opening a document

Hi,

I’d like to be able to collapse rows and have them stay collapsed for all eternity… is this not something that’s supported? I see this related thread from several years ago about Bike 1.

Appreciate the software very much! All the best,

Charles

I believe this is working as intended in Bike 1.x.

It was working as intended in Bike 2.x until a few releases ago when I broke it… but I just actually fixed that problem this morning. Fix should be in next preview release.

As intended…

In both cases the feature is based on the macOS document “restorable state” database. If you File > Close an outline then this state is lost. But if you just quit Bike without closing each document first. Then when you next open Bike those documents are restored and the collapsed state is also restored.

One more issue… if you have checked System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Close windows when quitting an application … then that disables the feature. The windows are closed, so restorable state is lost…

BUT if you want to have that system setting on, you can still make Bike have different behavior by going to Bike > Settings > Document and set different value for When Quit Bike Close Document.

Phew! It’s a complicated world!

Gotcha looking forward to the next version!

So this means that if I close a document by accident it will always re-open up fully expanded? (It would be better for me if it remembered, but this is a pretty minor thing all in all.)

Thanks!

Yeah, that’s the way it will work for now at least.
