Pasting into Bike

I have a lot of Apple Notes (thousands) that I wish to transfer to Bike. I have a very particular structure in mind, with clear ideas of headings and hierarchy. I want to use an LLM (Notion AI, in particular, as it’s already paid for) to get those notes into a state where they can be pasted into Bike and arrive with the formatting I want.

So my question is, what should those notes look like BEFORE pasting into Bike? Markdown? What denotes a heading, a child, etc. Is there something specific I can say to Notion AI to “take these notes and make them look like this” while also preserving existing formatting (bold, italics, etc)?

(I’m using the Mac App Store version of Bike, by the way, not the beta…)

Cheers,

Steve.

Interesting question, and I’m not quite sure. I think the two best possibilities are:

  1. Tab indented rich text. (and that’s really only option for Bike 1) On paste Bike will extract hierarchy from tab structure. Bike will also extract bold, italic, etc formatting. This is most direct route from notes to Bike

  2. Markdown nested lists. (requires Bike 2 for import, but then you could save as normal .bike and use in Bike 1) This would give you more control/expression over the final results. For example you could map each note title to a row heading type, you wouldn’t have that control in rich text route. End result (outside of Bike) might also be more valuable.

In the end the I think best would be to try both approaches on a small set of notes and see what turns out best.
