Open another file in new tab is difficult

Hi, first post. Is there an easier way to open another taskpaper file in a new tab. Currently I’m opening a new file, which is opening in a new window. I then need to open a new tab, so I can tear the tab off and move to another window that has another file loaded. Am I missing something? Quick tip or trick that is probably obvious, but I’m can’t seem to find.

Also, been loving taskpaper as a new user and wish I had found it sooner than 2025.

If you have Keyboard Maestro you can easily do it.

If you already have Taskpaper open with one file open then go to File Menu (or cmd+O) the selected file should open in a new tab.

In macOS settings > Desktop & Dock > Close and restore windows > Windows…

Make sure that Prefer tabs when opening documents is set to Always.
