License renewal in-app is frustrating

My Bike license is up for renewal and I’m happy to do it. But it’s frustrating that I seemingly can only do it in this in-app panel:

Frustrating because this panel doesn’t have access to my saved credit card info in Safari. I know we all used to type our credit card numbers by hand, all the time, but nowadays I almost never have to do it. I either get credit-card number autofill from Safari, or I use Apple Pay. Bike’s renewal sheet offers neither autofill from Safari nor Apple Pay.

And unless I’m missing it, it seems like there is no way to renew an existing license on the Hog Bay website. You can purchase a new license on the web, but not renew an existing one. I’d settle for either of these, without complaint:

  • Apple Pay in the in-app panel
  • License renewal on the website

Thanks. Never thought about those issues, but noted. Part of my license process is going out of business in a few months, so I’ll soon need to remember how all that works and change it. Will keep these issues in mind as I do that.

The latest Bike preview release adds links to the license panel to buy/renew licenses on website.
