I love using TaskPaper. Unfortunately, the last update (to fix a cursor problem, I think?) has rendered it nearly unusable for me.
When I make changes to a document, they do not actually become visible until I scroll the page up or down, or do a select all to highlight the text.
Hum, I have not seen this. What version of macOS are you using? About how big is your outline?
Thank you for the reply. The file is about 2000 words and 400 lines.
I’m using MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1
Is all typing slow, or just some interactions?
I’m on macOS 15 and just noticed some weird slowness in both TaskPaper and TextEdit under some editing conditions. What I did was:
- Turn on caps lock
- And once you do that then when you first start typing (or if you pause typing for a few seconds) then there is a very noticeable delay.
On the other hand I do not see any delay when I don’t have caps lock on.
The macOS text input system went under some major changes in macOS 14 (I think it was) and I think they are still ironing out some bugs.
I am only seeing the problem when I enable caps lock, but I wonder if we just have some different settings, and the problem is manifesting itself more due to a setting that you have that I do not use.
So my questions:
-
Can you think of any text settings that you might have that I don’t… I think my settings are pretty generic for US language. Are you typing in another language? Or using a different text input system?
-
Are you seeing any similar editing problems in other apps, such as TextEdit?
-
Does the problem depend in your outline file size? What happens if you start a new short outline… is that any faster?
Actually… one more request. Can you take a movie recording that shows this bug? In my head things got confused and I was thinking the problem was cursor slowness, but now I see it’s more redraw problems. I still can’t reproduce the problem, but maybe screencast will show me that you are doing something different then I am trying somehow.
