There’s no way to do this in the current release. But for the next release I’ve changed things so that if you hold down “Option” when clicking TaskPaper will just position the cursor and won’t open any links.
I know this is an old thread, but I’m new to TaskPaper and just found this
I appreciate that there’s the Option+click option now (I’m in 3.9.4), but I’ve got a question, Jesse:
Would it be possible to have a preference to swap the functionality (Option+Click when you WANT it to be a filter link?), or is there a way to turn off the filter link functionality altogether?
I’m sure some people love it and have been using it that way for years, but I’m personally not interested in having the link and just want to tap the cursor in and change a date, etc. And option+click is awkward with my normal hand positions.
Just realized, maybe I could try to program one of my mouse buttons to do an option click in just TaskPaper… I’ll try that.
But yeah, overall I’d love to be able to turn off the linking altogether (or only have it when I hold the option button down, since I’ll use it so infrequently anyway.
Thanks!
ETA: So I was able to set it up in BetterTouchTool that when I middle-click my mouse it sends a Option+Left Click to TaskPaper which solves my issue. And when I’m away from my mouse (laptop) I have BTT sending the Option+Left Click and I do Shift+Left Click.
I’m leaving this note in case anyone else tries to figure out a solution another time.
And to say I’d also still love the preference/settings option but if you can’t do anything about it, Jesse, I totally get it. Thanks!
I don’t think I want this to be an option. Clicking tags to filter seems pretty standard behavior to me. If you did want to make change, remember TaskPaper’s source code is available to license holders.
I think it would be pretty strait forward to add this option.
