First, just wanted to say this is one of the coolest apps I’ve played with in a while, and I have a pretty high bar! I purchased my license the other day.
I know I can customize keyboard shortcuts via MacOS settings > Keyboard, and that does work partially. But it doesn’t work for combos starting with Option, e.g. Option+J, Option+K, etc. My keyboard layout is set to U+ (Unicode hex input) so the Option keys definitely should work, and I’m able to set this type of combo in other apps.
Is there something I’m doing wrong? Will Bike 2 have a different/better way of customizing keyboard shortcuts?
Certainly possible, but I don’t know why this would be.
Can you give me example that works in TextEdit (say for copy menu item), but not in Bike? For example I tried Option-P as a custom keyboard shortcut that I assigned to Copy menu … but it didn’t work in either app.
Bike 2 has an extensions API, and one thing you can do using that API is define custom keybindings. This is a lot more flexible and powerful then the macOS custom keybindings system, but it is also more complex and requires javascript programming to use. You can learn more about extensions and keybindings here:
Interesting… I attempted to use “Option-D” as shortcut in another native Mac app via the MacOS Settings > Keyboard panel. This did not work, but when I set it to “Ctrl-Option-D” it worked. So it looks like this issue is not specific to Bike.
