I couldn’t use “—” to make a horizontal line. Just through the menu. Any other way?

May be play around with turning off the smart dash substitutions in keyboard settings? Also it’s the little dash, next to the “0” without using shift key. It’s En dash not Em dash. And exactly as complexpoint described.

Nice. I wish we didn’t have to type “space” to invoke this. I would expect three dashes and newline to also work.
Hum, yeah. I actually thought I had fixed that, but seems it’s fixed for other completion types, such as “zzz”, but not for horizontal rules. Added to my list.
