Feature request: default filename from first heading

Hi,

First of all, thanks for making Bike! It’s the software I’m happiest to have a subscription for, and I use it every day.

Would it be possible to have Bike use the first heading as the default filename when first saving a file? This would make a huge difference to me as I create new Bike files very often and want to quickly save them in project folders etc.

Yes, I think that’s a good idea.

For a while I had a more complex feature that tried to auto-name/save new documents by their content. But that created some subtle bugs/crashes and so I removed it.

Filling in filename of Save panel is a lot simpler and less error prone.

I’m a little less sure on first heading… maybe just first line would be simpler?

I think the first line would probably work fine. I just looked though a bunch of my bike documents and I couldn’t find one where the first line wouldn’t have worked.
