Hey Jesse,
when pasting this phrase it also pasted the empty space, that is within the markup *. This might be a result of the way Bike does formatting. This also happens when the formatted phrase is in the middle of not formatted words and the space following the formatted word is also considered formatted by Bike.
Pasting the same text into Markedit does not produce the empty space, but a perfectly formatted word.

Can you give me a bit more detail on the exact copy/paste sequence (and source/dest apps) you are doing it with?
For normal copy/paste in Bike ** should never come into play.
I was copy-and-pasting within a new bike-created-markdown-file; which I only edited in bike.
With Bike 299 I cant reproduce it today. Maybe I changed something with my system, maybe bike fixed it.
I will keep you posted here, if this changes!
