Hello everyone, I’ve been a user of Bike 1.0 and just tried installing Bike 2.0 (238). I noticed that the software can’t type Vietnamese with diacritics. Has anyone using other languages experienced a similar issue? And is there any way to fix this problem? I’d really appreciate your feedback.
Can you give me an instructions for a simple case to reproduce on my computer? Does it matter which input source I use in this list?
On my computer I choose “Vietnamese” input source and then I typed e and then I typed ^ and the end result in Bike seemed to match text edit, creating a ẻ char.
Please choose one of the two “Telex” input options, it seems the issue only occurs with this typing method. For example, “A + A” should become “”, and “O + S” should become “Ó”
. Thank you for your reply.
Ha, this is frustrating. Just made a bunch of changes… finally it started working. Then I removed all those changes. And it was still working!? It was also working with the current release build of Bike. Then I restarted computer and … not working again!
On IME states clearable by restart:
At some point which I can’t quite put my finger on (typing fast ? typing a certain line length ?) text entry with an RTL IME here suddenly goes into a state in which each typed character (regardless of insert cursor position) initially appears at full left on the screen, and then jumps to its correct position.
Once this state has been entered, even if we switch to a roman LTR IME for following rows, a similar pattern continues – the whole line initially jumps full left, and then moves back right to the input cursor position.
Restarting the app is enough to clear the pattern.
(I can DM a .mov if that helps)
( A slightly different, but presumably related state that seems to be initiated by RTL typing, is one in which all subsequent entry, on other rows, whether RTL or Roman LTR, seems to make the text on the current line disappear, reappearing only after typing has stopped )
( I may, of course, be jumping the gun a bit by testing RTL IMEs at all in early builds )
I think typing Vietnamese is fixed, or at least greatly improved. Please try out the latest release: Bike 2.0 (Preview 239) and let me know how it goes.
(Alas RTL language animations are still problematic)
The current bug fix has completely resolved the issue when typing in Vietnamese. Many thanks to the developer for the very quick support ![]()
