Difficult to explain with words so uploading a video.
When I press enter, I expect the cursor to start immediately one outdent away from my previous line, but here it is several outdents away.
Perhaps some invisible (and more deeply indented) lines are trailling after your insertion point ?

Yes, pretty sure that’s it.
@manoj You can tell this is the case because there are guide lines (to the left) following the line you are editing. Those only show up when content is indented. Delete them (or select and unindent a few times) and those guide lines will go away, and inserted line won’t be indented to match them.
