Osascript `modified` property of `document` working?

I only seem to be able to get a false value from the modified property of Bike document objects in the AppleScript / JavaScript for Automation interface.

( Even when nodes have been added or deleted, and the document window shows – Edited next to the file name at the top )

I’m seeing weird behavior also, though not always false. I’m also noticing weird behavior in TextEdit though, I don’t think it’s a Bike specific issue as far as I can tell.
